Chairman’s Welcome Address

Welcome to the 2025 San Diego Stamp Show! It’s great to see old and new friends together again.

We extend a warm welcome to the United Stated Postal Service. Not only are they providing an outlet for stamp sales, but they have also come through with the honor of a First Day of Issue ceremony for the new American Vistas Presorted Standard Non-Denominated Coil Stamps. Please stop by their stand and say hello.

A big welcome the Society of Israel Philatelists [SIP] who came here specifically to honor one of San Diego’s own: Donald Chaftez. As a transplanted New Jerseyite, Don maintained an award winning exhibit of Morristown, NJ Postal History and edited the New Jersey Postal History Journal. He also served as editor of the SIP Journal for many years. There will be a recognition for Don Sunday morning in conjunction with the SIP General Meeting. There will also be SIP related presentations on Friday along with an auction Sunday afternoon.

We also welcome the Canal Zone Study Group. Several local collectors are very involved, and helped recruit some of the world class exhibits for us to enjoy. Other regional groups include members of the Collectors Club of Southern California, Eire Study Circle, and the Armenian Philatelic Association.

We thank the many volunteers who make the show a better experience. Whether assisting with exhibit mounting, entry and information tables, or technical presentation assistance, members of the Poway Stamp Club [PSC] are here to help. We are proud in noting that the PSC is one of the largest and most active local clubs in the entire country!

Our 2025 event has barely begun, yet we are already planning future shows. For 2026 we welcome the United Postal Stationary Society and it’s annual ‘Marcus White’ Champion of Champions Postal Stationary competition.

Happy hunting and socializing,
